The goal of SimCP is to create an OpenSim-based simulation platform to predict gait performance following orthopedic intervention in children with cerebral palsy
The motivations behind this project are (1) the observation that it is very difficult to predict
the functional outcome of a clinical treatment in children with cerebral palsy (CP), which
often leads to follow-up treatments with an important socio-economic impact; and (2) the
recent scientific progress in the domain of subject-specific neuro-musculoskeletal modeling
which enables the development of computer simulations to predict the functional outcome
for individual patients. Therefore, this project aims to create SimCP, a simulation platform
that will enable the clinicians to compare the effect of different treatments and to determine
which treatment has the highest potential of improving gait performance before the
intervention.
